Over $400,000 raised at the Grand Festin d’huîtres to benefit the Fondation Jean Lapointe!

On November 2, the Fondation Jean Lapointe hosted the 18th edition of the Grand Festin d’huîtres. This year’s event was a resounding success, raising a total of $465,790!

Mon indépendance, j’y tiens!
Nearly 1,000 people turned out for the event to help fund the Mon indépendance, j’y tiens! alcohol and drug abuse prevention program in schools.

“By supporting efforts to combat alcoholism and drug abuse, the Fondation helps reduce the negative impact addiction has on society. The Mon indépendance, j’y tiens! program, for which the proceeds of the Grand Festin d’huîtres will be used, is a telling example of this commitment,” noted the event’s honorary chair, Luc Paiement, Executive Vice-President — Wealth Management and Co-President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of National Bank Financial.

Alcohol and drug use in high schools
The Fondation Jean Lapointe also took advantage of the event to launch a major campaign to raise awareness about drug and alcohol use among youth.

Knowing that today’s youth experiment with alcohol and drugs at a younger age, it is of the utmost importance that we offer them the help they need to make the right decisions. The funds raised will enable us to reach out to more than 40,000 young people in 2012-2013!
