Making a difference for 50,000 young people

This past May, we announced that we would be creating 12 One for Youth committees across the country and challenged thousands of not-for-profit organizations (NPOs) to submit an inspiring youth initiative related to the three pillars of the One for Youth program: health and wellness, education, and community involvement.

The incentive: $1 million to be shared among the organizations selected, with maximum funding of up to $25,000 for their projects.

A resounding success
We received more than 1,600 applications from around the country. The members of our 12 committees were very impressed with the diversity, relevance and creativity of the projects submitted and, after much deliberation, finally selected 104 organizations.

50,000 young people will benefit

More than 50,000 young people will benefit from the support of our One for Youth committees, which selected a wide diversity of initiatives: stay-in-school programs, food banks, healthy lifestyle initiatives, literature and music programs, community gardens, entrepreneurship programs and initiatives to help students with learning disabilities.

The committees will be back in 2014
Stay tuned: Given the success of this initiative, our One for Youth committees  intend to roll out the red carpet for youth NPOs again next year (date to be determined).
