Centraide’s March of 1,000 Umbrellas
For more than 20 years now, Centraide has marked the launch of its annual fundraising campaign with a march through downtown Montreal by some 20,000 participants from Centraide’s partner companies, organizations and unions, as well as the organizations it supports.
Centraide’s March of 1,000 Umbrellas is an opportunity for people to show their support in the fight against poverty and marginalization, and the annual campaign goal is also announced. This year, the organization aims to raise $60 million to support those in need.
Targeting new heights for 2012
This year’s Centraide of Greater Montreal campaign, from October 3 to December 15, is being cochaired by Louis Vachon, the Bank’s President and Chief Executive Officer, and Lino A. Saputo, Jr., Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board of Saputo.
In all, 23,000 volunteers will be collecting donations from thousands of people, including many workplaces in the Montreal area.
